Below are some important tips for students before going in to take the PSAT, SAT, and ACT tests. Please keep this sheet available to your student, and have them go over the tips a few times in the days leading up to the tests.
- Have a checklist for what to bring to the exam (Pencils, calculator, watch, etc..)
- Don't stay up all night studying before the test. Even take a nap the day of.
- Set a back-up alarm clock on the night before the big test.
- Get directions to the test center. Drive by a couple of days before the exam
- Arrive early for the test
- bring your admission ticket & Photo I.D. (You will receive a ticket in the mail when you sign up for the test).
- Make sure to eat before the test, as you don't want to be hungry.
- Go to the restroom before you enter the test center.
- When you receive the test, read the directions carefully.
- Stay relaxed and confident. Remember your preparation.
- Budget your time. Don't get hung up on a question you don't know. Just move on, and come back to those questions once you finish the rest of the test.
- Keep your writing legible.
- Don't panic. If you feel nervous or anxious, put down your pencil, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths.
- Don't worry if others finish before you; focus on the test in front of you.
